What comes to your mind when you hear the word “pesticides”? Are you flooded with images of warning labels, crop dusters, or groves of orange trees? While it’s true that pesticides are perhaps primarily used in commercial environments, and some can be harmful to your health, pesticides are actually very commonly used in residential neighborhoods and individual homes, and are less dangerous to humans than they used to be.

However, it’s always a good idea to be as safe as possible. Before you use products like weed killers, bug spray, or rat poison, be sure to consult the manufacturer’s instructions for how to use their product safely. Among other things, they may recommend wearing eye protection and/or gloves, and to avoid using the product when the weather is particularly windy. Of course, whenever you deal with any kind of chemical or product that even has a slight chance of harming a person, be sure to keep it out of the reach of children at all times.
