When you sit down on your toilet seat, does it slide all over the place? Or maybe it is one of those old, foam-type of seats that you find disgusting. There is no need to be stuck with a seat that isn’t right for you. Replacing a toilet seat is a very simple thing to do, and it is definitely something you could do on your own if you are just a little bit handy.

Unlike so many other things in your home, toilet seats are fairly standardized. To be on the safe side, you could remove your existing toilet seat and take it with you to the hardware store to match it up with a new one, but usually, the only variation you will find is whether or not the seat is elongated.

All that holds the seat in place is usually 2 bolts. When you replace your seat with a new one, make sure you’re careful not to over-tighten the bolts. If you crack the porcelain on your toilet seat, there is going to be a lot more work, since you would need to replace the whole seat.
