When you step out of your shower on a cool day, is your mirror covered with condensation? We’ve probably all experienced that, but condensation can often be a sign of an underlying problem. For example, in your bathroom, it could be due to poor ventilation that condensation forms. This is a problem because it could lead to mold growth and other water damage.
Condensation can also be a problem in other areas of your home, especially in your basement. There, condensation can gather up in a place that is out of sight and cause serious issues. One reason for condensation is un-insulated cold water pipes. If there is a lot of humid air that hits those pipes, a lot of condensation can form in a short matter of time.
Using a dehumidifier in your basement can help a lot, but only if you ensure that it is drained regularly. If you prefer not to do so manually, there are dehumidifiers that can drain outside of your home.
